It is with great sadness and with a big hole in our hearts to announce the unexpected passing of Winston W. (Rex) Barker age 83, of Arena, WI, due to a tractor accident Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Known to us as Pa, Gpa, or grandpa. He was a hard salty mountain man from Vermont that would do anything for his family. Even though he didn’t say it, he loved them.   He was born and raised in West Fairlee, Vermont with his sister Jeannie, until 1957, when he joined the Air Force which he dearly loved. He became a crew chief on F102 fighter aircraft of the 327th fighter group Truax field until his discharge. After his discharge he met his future wife Betty White they married on January 20, 1962, he loved her until Alzheimer’s took her early in life. Together they had a son Jeffery. He was very proud of his son, grandson and granddaughter who managed to get that grumpy ol’man to smile and laugh. Winston started as a redi mix driver for Reamish Redi-Mix in Middleton, he then joined Wingra Redi-Mix until his retirement in 1996. He did various part time jobs and of course helping anyone out in need. 25 years ago he moved to Arena where he bought his own deer hunting land which he loved. He proudly displayed deer mounts all over his wall until he actually ran out of room. He loved to hunt. He finally got his black bear and, next on his list was an elk. He cleared a spot on his land to build a beautiful house. He would complain about his yard but, it was immaculate. Winston is survived by his son Jeff (Sue) Barker of Arena, a grandson Christopher Barker of Arena, and granddaughter Lisa (Justin) Barker-Rupe of Arena and also several nieces and nephews located in Vermont. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green.  Reverend Craig Peach will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Richardson- Stafford Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M until the time of service. Online condolence available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com. The Richardson- Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
