Marcella “Marcy” (Schaaf) Stauffacher was called home to be with her beloved husband Gerald on Saturday August 19th, 2017 at St. Mary’s hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Mineral Point on May 16th, 1938 to Alvis and Gertrude Schaaf. She was the youngest of 9 children.  Marcy attended Mercy College for Nursing for one year before returning home to her parents. It wasn’t until 1959 that she found her true love Gerald E. Stauffacher and they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mineral Point on November 28th, 1959.

Marcy loved her Faith, Family and Friends. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing some of her specialty pies, monkey bread, and potato salad with friends and family. Her biggest accomplishment was her children and grandchildren. She was a crafty lady of all sorts, from painting ceramics for over 30 years to sewing and basket weaving. Family members have Easter baskets, holiday figures and blankets, all crafted by Marcy throughout the years.

Marcy loved the holidays especially Christmas where her generosity was magnified. Family often enjoyed grasshoppers and brandy slush during the holiday season. She loved to take in movies and shopping with her dear friend Sharon Nowland. She also enjoyed trips to the casino with friends and family. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in various activities throughout the years. Her love for sports shined through in her endless dedication to the Wisconsin Badgers and Chicago Bears.

Marcy enjoyed volunteering and she did so at the Food Pantry, Sauk Prairie Healthcare in the gift shop, Meals on Wheels and distributing communion at the nursing home. She was an active member at St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the CCW. She was a 4H leader for many years. She was a regular babysitter for grandkids and grand puppies for the last 30+ years.

Marcy kept her smile, humor and laughter throughout her illness at St. Mary’s. She held such poise and grace never once complaining. She enjoyed the many visitors at St. Mary’s Hospital and Greenway Manor and had a gift of gab. Marcy always had a smile on her face and a story or joke to tell. She was always quick to show forgiveness.

Marcy is survived by her children, Jean, Janice (Jay) Crook, Jill (Marty) Liegel, Jerold (Kathi) Stauffacher, Judy (Alex Kraemer) and Jolene (Ryan) Von Haden. She had 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and one more on the way this fall. Theresa (Aaron) Johnson, Jonathan (Stephanie) Bindl, Michelle (Ryan) MacDonald, Matthew Bindl; Jerica (Dustin) Robinson, Jeffery (Jackie) Crook, Jaelin (Ryan Finnel), Joseph Crook; Karie, Kelli and Nicole Liegel; Lexi, Jackson and Justin Stauffacher; Christopher and Blake Von Haden.
