Subscription Update Obituary

Jean A. Puskala, age 91, of Spring Green, passed on February 14, 2017 at Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green. She was born on June 2, 1925 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Harry Lucius and Edith Rebecca (Lentell) Moseley. Following graduation from Beloit High School, Jean worked as a “Rosey the Riveter” during WWII at Fairbanks Morse in Beloit where diesel engines were built for the war effort. Jean then attended UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee, obtaining a master’s degree in social work. She was then employed in Sawyer County where she met her husband Tauno Puskala. They married June 14, 1952. In 1958, they moved to Spring Green where Jean raised her two children Ellen and Richard. She then returned to work as a social worker in Iowa County. Jean was very active in the community, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the volunteer ambulance service. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, nature and in her later years sewing and quilting. Survivors include two children, Richard (Charlene) Puskala of Spring Green, Ellen (Dean) Nickel of DeForest, and two granddaughters Rachel and Emma Puskala of Spring Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Edith Moseley, Marjory Miller, Frances Alkins, and June Jung, brothers Truman Moseley, and Nathan Moseley. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home in Spring Green. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Greenway Manor Volunteers.
