Subscription Update Obituary

After decades of idle threats that “You will miss me when I’m gone”, Dorothy H. Gilligan, age 80 of Richland Center followed through on her promise. On Sunday, August 20, 2017, she passed at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 10, 1937 the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Ryan) Hinton in Chicago, IL.  She was married on September 15, 1962 to Patrick A. Gilligan.  Dorothy was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a part of many volunteer activities and loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was the courageous matriarch of her flock of six children.  Survivors include Kathleen (David) Niles of Menomonee Falls, WI, Patrick “Gilly” (Marilyn) Gilligan of Richland Center, Colleen (John) Schmitz of Chapel Hill, NC., Nancy Gilligan of Mindoro, WI, Meg Gilligan of Richland Center, Robert Gilligan and Fiancé Tiffany Capouch of Minneapolis, MN. Her 6 grandchildren, Kristin and Brandon Niles, Kelsey and Jessica Schmitz, Joseph Reith and Patrick Anderson, her sister Nancy (Robert) Keegan of Richland Center, nieces, nephews, and countless other relatives and friends.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Gilligan.  A Mass in memory of Dorothy will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center.  Monsignor Roger Scheckel will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Stafford Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. and again on Thursday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to GRACE (https://walkwithgrace.com/), St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Richland Hospital Foundation (www.richlandhospital.com/home/richland-hospital-foundation/).
